Getting Started
Wether you plan on using military education benefits or explore the military affiliated opprotunities on campus, our staff are here to assist you along the way! Below, is a provided step by step guide on what to do as first steps:
Phase 1 Meetings
Whether you’re just starting to explore your academic opportunities or you’re already admitted to the University, we recommend students using military education benefits to schedule a “Phase 1” meeting with the VMSC staff. During these meetings, we can discuss the U of A admission process, potential benefit options (especially VA education benefits), how to apply for benefits, and the additional steps to use these benefits.
To schedule a Phase 1 meeting, please contact the VMSC office at 479-575-8742 or vmsc@uark.edu.
Orientation for Student Veterans
Before the Fall semester, the Veteran and Military-Affiliated Student Center hosts mini-orientation sessions for new veterans, service members, and military dependents attending the University. During this time, we will cover basic information like how to access your benefits each semester via our online platform, how to check the status of your request, what campus resources are available to you, information on scholarships and study abroad, and answer any questions you may have.
Military Transfer Credit
Service members and veterans may be able to obtain college credit for some of the training they have completed. Service members and veterans from the Army, Navy, Coast Guard, and Marines can request a Joint Service Transcript here: https://jst.doded.mil
Service members in the Air Force can request a transcript here: https://www.airuniversity.af.edu/Barnes/CCAF/Display/Article/803247/community-college-of-the-air-force-transcripts/
